HANOVER, N.J. (March 12, 2016) – The New York Red Bulls U-18s claimed their first victory in 2016 at the Red Bulls Training Facility against Bethesda-Olney, 2-1.

In the early stages of the game, the Red Bulls exchanged chances with Bethesda which forced goalkeeper Vadym Sanzhareevskyi to make some key saves to keep the game scoreless.

At the half-hour mark, Matt Thorshiem was fouled in the penalty box after a run and cross from Noah Powder. Ryan Mingachos stepped up to the penalty spot and converted to put New York ahead in the 31st minute.

The Red Bulls extended their lead six minutes later when Mason Deeds played in Samad Bouthong who finished into the top corner to give the Red Bulls a two-goal cushion heading into the break.

Midway through the second half, the Red Bulls nearly scored a third goal after a cross from Kyle Perno found Brian Saramago who headed his effort wide.
