Ben Mines Goes 45 in MLS Homegrown Game Draw

Ben Mines came in at halftime and played the entire second half as the MLS Homegrown team played to a 1-1 draw with the Tigres UANL U-20 side.

Mines nearly connected on a long pass, sliding inside the box, but the shot deflected wide.

He was later fouled outside the top of the 18, with Jorge Cruz being issued his second yellow card, and subsequent red card, allowing the Homegrown team to play up a man for the final 12 minutes of the match.

The MLS Homegrown side got on the board just before halftime, with Liam Fraser scoring to put them ahead. Tigres UANL equalized in the second half after it looked like the Homegrown side had doubled their lead. Video review overturned the goal and brought the ball back inside the MLS' 18-yard box, where Adrian Garza was able to sneak a ball low and inside the post on an indirect free kick to tie it up.

Mines was one of five New York Red Bulls players participating in the MLS All-Star Game festivities, as Tyler Adams, Aaron Long, Michael Amir Murillo and Bradley Wright-Phillips will take on Juventus with the rest of the MLS All-Stars on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
