After helping the Red Bulls' defense not allow a shot on target from open play for the second consecutive week, Sean Nealis has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday.
Nealis, who became the first New York native to become New York Red Bulls captain, helped lead the defense to their first clean sheet performance of the season. He was featured on the bench of the Matchday two standout squad.
In two matches, New York has only allowed one shot on target in two MLS matches. In five preseason matches, the Red Bulls only allowed one goal.
In 2022, Nealis made 33 starts on the backline for the Red Bulls. He was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday once.
He has made 80 total league appearances for the Red Bulls since he joined the first team in 2019.
