HARRISON, N.J. (September 2, 2015) – The 2015-16 New York Red Bulls Academy season is underway and the U-18s, U-16s and U-14s all kicked off their seasons with victories on Saturday, Aug. 29 at the Red Bulls Training Facility in Whippany, N.J.
New York Red Bulls U-18 (4) vs. PA Classics (2)
The New York Red Bulls U-18 opened up the new USDA season with a home win against PA Classics, 4-2.
Mason Toye opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a strong run and finish. However, the lead was short lived as PA Classics leveled the match two minutes later. The Red Bulls were then awarded a penalty kick when Ryan Mingachos was pushed from behind as he attempted to chest the ball down and shoot. Jared Gilbey dispatched the penalty kick to give the Red Bulls a 2-1 lead at the break.
New York made a number of changes and started the second half on the front foot. Pierre Reedy, who was making his debut for the club, won the ball high and made a powerful run through to finish. Reedy nearly scored again with an exchange of passes with D’Andrea, with Marin at the edge of the penalty area. Marin played in Reedy who narrowly missed from the angle. The Red Bulls extended their lead with a good combination play between Callum Johnson and Barry Sharifi. Johnson played in Sharifi who showed technique and composure to lift the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.
PA Classics would end the scoring in the 86th minute when they got a goal back, and Red Bulls U-18s claimed their first victory of the season.
“I thought it was good to be able to play my first official game with the team,” said Man of the Match Pierre Reedy. “It was for us to get the first win under our belts early on that way we can carry that mentality into our upcoming games. With that said there’s a lot we can improve on going forward.”
The Red Bulls have two home games next weekend at Red Bulls Training Facility. The first game will be against Richmond United at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, followed by MLS rivals DC United on Sunday, Sept. 6, with kickoff also at 11 a.m.

New York Red Bulls U-16 (6) vs. PA Classics (1)
The New York Red Bulls U-16 kicked off their season on Saturday with a win at home against the PA Classics, 6-1.
The Red Bulls started strong, scoring 10 seconds into the game on a goal by Jack Valderabanno. New York continued to pressure the visitors, but after striking the post twice, PA Classics equalized off a long throw in at the 25 minute mark.
The goal seemed to wake up New York, as they scored three goals from Zach Ryan, Omir Fernandez and Valderabanno to take a three-goal lead into halftime, 4-1. In the second half, Valderabanno earned a hat-trick and Ryan would score again as the Red Bulls U-16 earned its first victory of the season.
Up next for the U-16s are two games on Labor Day weekend against Richmond United and D.C. United.

New York Red Bulls U-14 (8) vs. PA Classics (0)
The New York Red Bulls U-14 Academy opened the scoring for the new season in a mere 90 seconds. Forward Kejiel Watt connected on a pass from Aziel Jackson to score his first of four goals on the day. Watt scored his second goal of the game in the 17th minute, and completed his hat-trick in the 36th minute.
Forward Dylan Sullivan scored in the 26th minute and Watt scored his fourth goal of the game in the 42nd minute as the Red Bulls took a 4-0 lead into halftime. At the start of the second half, the young Red Bulls again wasted little time to get on the score sheet. Defender Sean Joo headed in a corner kick in the 48th minute from Danny Jara. Sullivan scored his second goal of the game in the 67th minute and the scoring was completed in the 78th minute when forward Scotty Taylor finished neatly into the corner of the goal from 12-yards.
