Damien Perrinelle Team of the Week

New York Red Bulls’ defender Damien Perrinelle was named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 29 of the 2016 season.

Perrinelle played in all 90 minutes of the Red Bulls’ 1-0 win over Montreal Impact on Saturday.

Perrinelle and Aurelien Collin featured at center back for New York, holding Impact stars Didier Drogba and Ignacio Piatti to just two combined shots on goal.

“Drogba didn't really find the game too much,” Head Coach Jesse Marsch said after the game. “I thought [Collin] and Damien, the way they moved and their understanding of how to play with each other was very good. So in the end, very pleased.”

According to OPTA, Perrinelle had 62 touches in the game, and 47 passes with an 87.2 percent accuracy. He had five tackles, but conceded three fouls, in New York’s shutout victory.

This is Perrinelle's third Team of the Week honor.
