U-14 USSDA Showcase Recap | Red Bulls U-14 sweep competition on Halloween weekend

New York Red Bulls U-14 headed to North Carolina for the U-14 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Showcase where they finished undefeated, 3-0-0. Held on Halloween and Nov. 1, the two-day tournament featured three matches for the Red Bulls. On Saturday, New York faced Orlando City SC and New England Revolution in shortened matches, and finished the tournament against Kendall SC on Sunday.
New York Red Bulls U-14 (3) vs. Orlando City SC (1) (Shortened 50’ match)

NORTH CAROLINA (October 31, 2015) – The Red Bulls U-14 opened the scoring against Orlando City in the 12th minute when forward Scotty Taylor received a ball in behind the Orlando defense from Alex Quezada. Taylor rounded the Orlando goalkeeper and finished the chance from a tight angle.


New York doubled the score in the 15th minute when Aziel Jackson blasted a left-footed shot from 15-yards into the top left corner of the goal. Orlando pulled one back in the 33rd minute to make the score 2-1, but the Red Bulls quickly restored the two goal lead in the 35th minute. Taylor, assisted by Jackson, scored again by chipping the Orlando goalkeeper from 25-yards out to close out the win.

NORTH CAROLINA (October 31, 2015) – The Red Bulls U-14s pushed the game early against New England Revolution and created numerous opportunities in the opening 10 minutes of the match. In the 2nd minute, Scotty Taylor hit a shot off the post. Minutes later Taylor shot again, this time from 12-yards out, but saw it tipped over the bar by the New England goalkeeper. Aziel Jackson also came close to scoring, but put his shot flew just over the bar in the 9th minute.


The Red Bulls were first on the scoresheet in the 12th minute when Taylor volleyed in a corner kick from Danny Jara at the back post. In the 18th minute, midfielder Jayden Reid scored his first goal of the season when he received a cross from Jackson at the back post and cut past the defender before unleashing a 20-yard blast into the upper right corner of the goal.


The Revolution’s goalkeeper continually denied the Red Bulls as they pressed for a third goal. In the 42nd minute, New England pulled one back with a blast from 25-yards, but the Red Bulls hung on to win, 2-1.

New York Red Bulls U-14 (2) vs. Kendall SC (0) (*Full 80’ match)

NORTH CAROLINA (November 1, 2015) – The Red Bulls U-14 closed out the U-14 USSDA Showcase in style with a comprehensive victory against Kendall SC, 2-0. As they had done in previous games, the Red Bulls high pressure allowed the Red Bulls the advantage in possession and chances created.


The Red Bulls came close to opening the scoring on several occasions as both Aziel Jackson and Scotty Taylor narrowly missed. In the 27th minute, the Red Bulls took the lead when defender Jonathan Ned scored his first goal of the season when he headed in from close range after a Jackson cross.


In the second half, substitute Conner Maurer scored with his first touch of the game. Midfielder Amadeo-Chapru-tate made a great cross-field run before finding Scotty Taylor in behind the Kendall SC back line. Taylor beat a defender before playing a cutback pass to Maurer who finished on his near post run.
