USL MATCH RECAP: New York Red Bulls II vs. Rochester Rhinos

HARRISON, N.J. (July 2, 2016) – New York Red Bulls II and the Rochester Rhinos played to a 0-0 draw at Red Bull Arena on Saturday afternoon.


New York extends its unbeaten streak to nine games (6-0-3) and improves to 9-1-5 on the season. Red Bulls II has not lost a match since May 1 against the Charlotte Independence.


New York grabbed its tenth shutout in 16 games on Saturday. Ryan Meara, on loan from MLS, earned his seventh shutout, making six saves.


Red Bulls II’s best chance of the game came in the 43rd minute when Derrick Etienne Jr. connected wit Junior Flemmings down the right flank. The Jamaican attacker cut inside and fired a shot towards the back post, just wide of the frame.


Rochester nearly found the go-ahead goal in the 68th minute when Kenardo Forbes’ bending shot from a free kick curled around the wall, but Meara made the diving save to keep the game scoreless.


New York Red Bulls II travels next week for the first of a three-game road trip to face FC Montreal on Saturday, July 9 at 3 p.m. NYRB II next return home on Saturday, July 23 to host Charleston Battery.
