Bradley Wright-Phillips has been nominated for the Best XI in the The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Awards.
Wright-Phillips has been nominated as one of the top forwards among CONCACAF players. Fans can vote for BWP here, through January 8, 2017.
"The CONCACAF Awards honor players and achievements in CONCACAF-sanctioned tournaments and competitions involving the Confederation’s national teams at all levels, including FIFA World Cups and World Cup qualifying for both genders, in all age categories," the Confederation said in a release. "Performances also eligible for recognition include those achieved in professional club football leagues under CONCACAF’s stewardship in North America, Central America and the Caribbean, as well as the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League."
Wright-Phillips scored 24 goals on his way to winning the Golden Boot. He also added five assists, tied for fifth most on the Red Bulls. Wright-Phillips' seven game-winning goals also led the league. He led the league in home goals (14) and tied for the lead in away goals (10).
BWP and the New York Red Bulls face off against Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Red Bull Arena on February 22, 2017 at 8 p.m. ET in the quarterfinals of the the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League. New York will then travel to Vancouver on March 2 at 10 p.m. ET at BC Palace. to wrap up the second land of the matchup. The winner of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC – New York Red Bulls quarterfinal will face the winner of the Pumas UNAM – Tigres UANL quarterfinal in the semifinals.
