Harrison, N.J. (March 30, 2017) – New York Red Bulls II open MSU Soccer Park as their new home venue this Saturday at 4 p.m. with Eastern Conference opponent, Richmond Kickers serving as their opponent.
Coupled with renovations to the facility, including new camera towers and a brand new press box, Red Bulls II looks to transfer their goal-scoring prowess from Red Bull Arena to MSU Soccer Park for this USL season. They scored three goals against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds resulting in a draw in their USL road opener this past weekend.
The French Connection of Vincent Bezecourt and Florian Valot accounted for all three of NYRB II’s goals in Pittsburgh. The squad in total scored a league-high 69 goals last season en route to a USL Cup Title.
The two clubs met twice last season, with both matches ending in dramatic fashion. The two teams battled to a 1-1 draw at Red Bull Arena in May of 2016. Anatole Abang scored an unassisted goal in the 68th minute, before Kickers defender Alex Lee assisted on the 90th minute equalizer to salvage a point.
Richmond edged a 2-1 victory at City Stadium in July of 2016. Brandon Allen opened the scoring for NYRB II in the 10th minute, assisted by Derrick Etienne. Yudai Imura responded with a 12th minute penalty kick goal, and Jackson Eskay scored in the 90th minute to capture all three points for the Kickers.
Richmond began their 2017 USL season with a clean sheet 1-0 victory at home against Harrisburg City Islanders ensured by a huge penalty kick save by Kickers keeper Travis Worra.
