In his third year with New York Red Bulls II, goalkeeper Evan Louro has been incredible in net, recording over 150 saves and 10 clean sheets in that time. Louro has been the club’s main keeper since signing as a Homegrown Player for the New York Red Bulls in January of 2017. Born in South River, the New Jersey native has showed, he can perform consistently on the professional level.
Louro played collegiately at the University of Michigan for three years and put up some great numbers in that time. In collegiate play, Louro recorded 155 saves and 12 clean sheets in just 46 appearances for the Wolverines. His 1.05 goals against average in his sophomore year even ranked number two in single season program history. He totaled a 1.17 goals against average in his college career, and his solid play earned him a contract after his junior year. He recorded a clean sheet in his first ever professional match against the Richmond Kickers in April of 2017.
Louro joined Red Bulls Academy back in 2008. He also won some hardware with the academy, winning the U.S. Soccer Development Academy championship in 2012. Evan has also been called up to multiple U.S. Youth national teams in his career, with one of his first coming in 2009.
Being just the second Homegrown goalkeeper for the Red Bulls in club history, there are a lot of expectations that arise, but Evan seems to be meeting and even exceeding those expectations.
