New York was last in action on March 30, defeating NYCFC II 3-2 at Sports Illustrated Stadium. New York opened the scoring in the seventh minute, when New York forward Wiktor Bogacz found a rebound off the keeper and placed a shot into the bottom left corner. New York gave up two goals in the 12th and 56th minute but equalized the match in the 67th minute thanks to a pass to the top of the box by forward Julian Hall to midfielder Rafael Mosquera who took a touch inside and laced a shot into the bottom left corner. Hall drew a penalty kick in the 85th minute and smashed his attempt into the top left corner to give New York a 3-2 victory.

Chicago is coming off a 2-1 road victory over FC Cincinnati 2 on March 30. Fire FC II went down 1-0 in the fourth minute but answered back in the 10th minute when midfielder Claudio Cassano won a ball off the Cincinnati goalkeeper and laced a shot into the bottom right corner. Chicago found the lead in the 50th minute as Cassano whipped in a cross onto the six-yard box that was deflected into the back of the net by a Cincinnati defender.

In six all-time MLS NEXT Pro matchups, Red Bulls II are 3-1-2 and have won three of the past four matches. In four of the six matches New York scored four or more goals. The two sides have combined for six or more goals in three matchups.

The two clubs last faced each other on September 13, 2024, at SeatGeek Stadium. Chicago went up 2-0 in the 15th minute. New York struck back in the 55th minute when midfielder Aiden Jarvis played a ball through to midfielder Rafael Mosquera who smashed a shot into the top left corner. Fire FC II would hold on to the lead and win the match 2-1.

Midfielder Ibrahim Kasule leads the current team with five goal contributions across six appearances against Chicago. The Buikwe, Uganda native scored a brace in two matchups on August 27, 2023 in a 5-4 win and October 1, 2023 in a 4-1 MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference Quarterfinal win.
