MONTCLAIR, N.J. (July 9, 2023) - New York Red Bulls II (8-4-4, 30 pts.) return home for a third matchup against New York City FC II (7-7-1 22 pts.) at MSU Soccer Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET and coverage is available on MLS Season Pass with Apple TV.

In what will be their third matchup of the year, both sides will look to claim the season series with a win on Sunday night. In the first New York Derby on May 14th, Red Bulls II put on a dominant performance at MSU Soccer Park, winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Frank Ssebufu and Elias Manoel. Last time out at Belson Stadium on June 11th, New York City FC II countered with a two-goal win of their own, coming out on top by a final score of 3-1.

Since the last Derby, both teams have taken much different paths. Red Bulls II have not lost a match since, with wins against FC Cincinnati 2 and Inter Miami CF II, and a draw against Crown Legacy FC. New York City FC II have not had as favorable of a run, having lost four straight, with their last victory being the win against Red Bulls II.

Heading into tonight’s match, midfielder Ibrahim Kasule will attempt to continue his incredible run of form over the past month and a half. In the last seven matches the 19-year-old has recorded six goals and three assists, having tallied at least one in each of those seven. The Ugandan recently received a short-term loan with the first team for yesterday’s match against New England.

On the defensive end, Red Bulls II currently rank first in the Eastern Conference and fourth in tMLS NEXT Pro in least goals allowed with 17. The fantastic play of A.J. Marcucci has led to New York by posting the second highest save percentage in MLS NEXT Pro at 77%.

MSU Soccer Park has proven to be a true home field advantage as of late, with New York being unbeaten in their last four matches at Montclair. Red Bulls II have only lost two of their eight home matches this season and hope to maintain that trend tonight.
