HARRISON, N.J. (September 26, 2023) – New York Red Bulls II have been matched up against Chicago Fire FC II for the first round of the MLS NEXT Pro playoffs at MSU Soccer Park on Sunday, October 1, at 1:00 p.m. ET. Coverage will be available on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
The matchup was determined after the #2 and #3 seeds (New England Revolution II and Columbus Crew 2) in the Eastern Conference selected their opponents for their first-round matches. With New England selecting Philadelphia Union 2 and Columbus choosing Orlando City B, that left New York and Chicago to face off this Sunday.
Since Red Bulls II finished the regular season in fourth place and Chicago finished in sixth place, the match will be hosted at MSU Soccer Park. New York Red Bulls II have posted an 8-5-3 mark at MSU Soccer Park this season.
Sunday’s contest will be a rematch of the last time these two sides faced off in Montclair, with New York coming out on top in a 5-4 thriller. Jorge Cabezas Hurtado, Frank Ssebufu, and Wiki Carmona each had a goal in addition to Ibrahim Kasule recording a brace to tie the single season goal scoring record for the club at 15.
