New York Red Bulls II will play four matches during the month of May, including a match on Mother’s Day and crucial in-conference clashes.
Sunday, May 8 – Sacramento Republic FC (MSU Soccer Park, 1:00 p.m. ET, ESPN+)
New York will play on Mother’s Day for the second time in club history on May 8, as it will host Sacramento Republic FC. The only other instance occurred on May 14, 2017, as the club hosted Los Angeles Galaxy II at Red Bull Arena. New York and Sacramento will meet for the second time, with Sacramento taking the first 3-1 in July of 2021. Luther Archimède will make his first appearance at MSU Soccer Park as a member of an opposing club. The forward scored three goals and tallied an assist in 14 matches with New York last year. Red Bulls II will look for its first-ever victory over a West Coast opponent.
Saturday, May 14 – Hartford Athletic (Trinity Health Stadium, 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN+)
A rivalry will be renewed in May between New York and Hartford, clubs that have met eight times over the last two seasons. Red Bulls II won the most recent match by a score of 2-0 on Futures Night on September 4, 2021. Hartford recently bolstered its attack with the signing of Corey Hertzog, a striker who ranks second in league history with 73 regular season goals. The neighbors from Connecticut also squared off against the New York Red Bulls in the U.S. Open Cup on April 20, 2022, falling 2-1.
Saturday, May 21 – Indy Eleven (Michael A. Carroll Stadium, 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN+)
Red Bulls II will travel to face Indy Eleven for the first time since the 2019 USL Championship Postseason. Counting its playoff victory, Indy has a slight 3-2-0 edge in the all-time series, and a slight 7-6 edge in goals. All three meetings during the 2019 season were decided by one goal. Indy, like Hartford, made a recent splash by signing two-time USL Championship Most Valuable Player Soloman Asante. During his time with Phoenix Rising FC, Asante scored 54 goals and tallied 42 assists in 113 appearances.
Friday, May 27 – Birmingham Legion FC (MSU Soccer Park, 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN+)
Like Indy, New York will take on Birmingham Legion FC for the first time since the 2019 season. The two clubs will look to gain advantage in the all-time series, as each has one win to their name. Red Bulls II won the first meeting 5-0 on May 1, 2019, and Birmingham took the return match on October 16, 2019. Birmingham, like many of New York’s opponents, recently added a big piece to their roster in Juan Agudelo. The forward has over 280 appearances with MLS clubs to go along with 28 caps with the U.S. Men’s National Team.
