Tommy Redding, the New York Red Bulls’ newest defender, has been an anchor across the backline for Orlando City SC as well as U.S. Youth National Teams.


Here’s how Redding stacks up by the numbers:


1: On March 11, 2014, Orlando signed the Oviedo, Florida native to a Homegrown contract at 17-years old, the first in the club’s history.


2: This past summer at the U-20 World Cup, Redding started and played alongside Red Bulls Homegrown Tyler Adams in two matches, a 3-3 draw with Ecuador and a 6-0 win over New Zealand.


34: Over the past two MLS seasons, Redding has started 34 MLS regular season matches for OCSC at center back totaling 2572 minutes. He did feature and went the full 90 for Orlando in their 3-1 defeat to the New York Red Bulls in August at Red Bull Arena.


60: Per Opta, Redding won 60 duels in the middle of the park for OCSC in 2017, placing third on the team.


1997: Born on January 24, 1997 in San Diego, California, Redding’s acquisition makes him the third-youngest player on the Red Bulls roster at 20 years of age, behind Hassan Ndam and Tyler Adams.
