I grew up in Cali, Colombia. My parents migrated here with me and my sister when I was four years old. I've been playing soccer my entire life; my dad helped me fall in love with the sport.
I had one perspective throughout my playing career. When I came into coaching, I thought, wow, you can get paid for something that you love to do. As a coach, you're surrounded by so many people and it's like a big melting pot of different cultures, different ideas. I just fell in love with the coaching side of it.
I used to feel these emotions as a player and sometimes there wasn't an arm around my shoulder. When it comes to being a coach, I understand how powerful of a role it is being able to influence players, not just on, but also off the field. I just want to do everything in my power to help these players unlock their potential and teach them how to be good human beings so we can improve the future of our society.”
