Daniel Royer is on a tear.
With a brace against Vancouver Whitecaps FC, the game-equalizer coming in stoppage time and down a man, the midfielder has netted five goals in his last five matches.
āI think it was really important to bounce back and at least get a point out of this game," Royer said. "I think weāve been the better team today, I think we controlled most parts of the game but havenāt been the best at set pieces on the day. I think more was possible but it was still great to bounce back late in the gameā
Royer has tallied at least a goal in four of the last six games to raise his season total to 10.
"Danny is always getting that goal for us," Head Coach Chris Armas said. "When you need a big goal, he's there."
The Austrian winger completed his fourth career MLS brace and has recorded 10-plus goals in back-to-back seasons.
What makes Royer so good?
"Sniffing out plays, running hard in the box, and having that uncanny ability to get on the end of things," Armas said. "Danny is inspirational -- and he keeps getting better."
Royer also added the game-winning assist against Chicago as he heats up.
āI think itās just about little things and details," Royer said. "I think Iām doing the same things as at the beginning of the season, Iām always trying to work hard and I know the opportunities will come and weāll always create chances. I think Iām more calm when I get the final chances to score."
