It was a "dream come true."
Tom Barlow's first MLS goal was also the game-winner against the New York Red Bulls most recent rival in Atlanta United.
On his third touch of the match, Barlow was able to get his head on a cross from Daniel Royer and sneak a bouncing ball past Brad Guzan for the eventual deciding goal.
"I just remember it popping out wide and Danny making the run," Barlow said. "When I came on, [Head Coach Chris Armas] told me to try to get in behind and I was lucky to get behind the center back. [Royer] played a perfect ball and I was able to get my head on it."
Barlow had scored eight goals in eight appearances with New York Red Bulls II in the USL Championship before he was signed to the first team on May 8.
"When I came up here, I just tried to keep doing the same thing and not change too much," Barlow said. "The guys have helped me a ton and I'm just happy I was able help the team."
The St. Louis-native was drafted in the second round of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft out of Wisconsin.
"I couldn’t picture a better day," Barlow said. "A perfect moment. Happy we got the win and happy I scored my first goal. It was awesome."
