Daniel Edelman shined for the New York Red Bulls in his second MLS start.
The 19-year-old went the full 90, helping lock down the defensive midfield, and winning the ball that led to the first goal of the match for New York.
"He played a very good game, looks very experienced in some moments," Head Coach Gerhard Struber said. "Very good in moments he won the ball, also he finds good follow actions in transition moments. I am very happy with him."
Edelman said the team stuck to their matchplan and executed it as necessary.
"We did a really good job in terms of if they did break us down, we were all committed to make our recovery runs and get behind the ball," Edelman said. "The dedication from all the boys and the mentality was top today, and that’s really what got us the result."
Confidence is sky high at the moment for the homegrown midfielder from Warren, New Jersey.Â
"I’m feeling well that I can fit in with the group and I can play at this level," Edelman said. "I think the guys around me are really helping me perform, and I couldn’t do it without the team today to get the win."
