New York Red Bulls II new center-midfielder, Daniel Edelman, joins the club after spending the last year with Red Bulls Academy.
The 17-year-old midfielder has played for United States’s Under-16 National Team, most recently appeared at the Nike International Friendlies in 2019, where he started two matches for the U-16’s.
Edelman joined Red Bulls Academy in early 2020, where he started training with New York Red Bulls II. On July 17, 2020, he made his first professional appearance against Hartford Athletic coming on in the 86th minute. Five days later, he made his first professional start and recorded his first professional goal against Philadelphia Union II on July 22.
Prior to his time with Red Bulls Academy, Edelman played for Players Developmental Academy, where he captained their U-15’s, U-17’s, and U-19’s sides. Other former Red Bulls players that have played for Players Developmental Academy are Daniel Metzger, Jared Stroud, and current New York Red Bulls forward Brian White.
Growing up in Warren, New Jersey, Edelman had the opportunity to attend Red Bulls matches when he was younger with his father and grandfather.
