The New York Red Bullsā newest Young Designated Player, Alejandro āKakuā Romero Gamarra, has been acquired via transfer from Club Atletico Huracan (ARG) on February 16, 2018.
Gamarra, nicknamed āKakuā, 23, hails from Ciudadela, Argentina and has been a part of CA Huracanās youth system since 2013. Gamarra will become the franchiseās youngest DP since the rule was enacted in 2007.
He helped CA Huracan gain promotion to the top division of Argentinian futbol (Primera Division) in 2014 after winning a one-game playoff against Atletico Tucuman.
In addition to 72 first division appearances for the club, Gamarra has featured in 17 Copa Libertadores (South Americaās most prestigious tournament) games, six Copa Sudamericana (South Americaās second-most prestigious competition) contests and won the 2014 edition of the Copa Argentina (US Open Cup equivalent to Argentina).
Playing as a winger during his time with Huracan, Gamarra notched eight goals and 13 assists in all competitions.
He also appeared five times for the Argentina U-20 National Team, including three appearances at the 2015 U-20 World Cup.
