The New York Red Bulls’ new left-footed center-back hails from Uruguay. Although he was born in Brazil, he’s spent a greater part of his life in Uruguay playing for Danubio FC and Montevideo Wanderers. He’s currently part of Uruguay’s Under-20 pool, led by coach Gustavo Ferreyra.
On Wednesday Aug. 4, he took part in a friendly between Uruguay’s U-20 and Boston River.
Since June 29, Monzón has started five consecutive games for Montevideo Wanderers. Monzón is on loan from Danubio.
The 19-year-old defender has played a total of 1,651 minutes in Uruguayan football.
