The New York Red Bulls head into BC Place in Vancouver for Leg 2 of the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Thursday night.
After a 1-1 draw at Red Bull Arena last week, Whitecaps FC holds an away-goal advantage, for the 10 p.m. ET start.
New York needs at least a one goal win to advance. Here's the full breakdown of how the games outcome determines which team moves on to play Tigres UANL in the semifinals:
Red Bulls advance with:
- Any win (1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 3-1, etc.)
- Any draw with at least two away goals (2-2, 3-3, 4-4, etc.)
The match will head to extra time with:
- A 1-1 draw at the end of regulation.
If the two teams each have a goal at the end of regulation, there will be extra time in the form of two 15-minute halves. The full extra time will be played in its entirety, regardless of goals scored. If the teams head to extra time, the away goal rule will no longer be in effect.
Whitecaps FC advance with:
- Any win
- A 0-0 draw
A Spanish language broadcast will be available on Univision Deportes. An English stream will be provided through the CONCACAF Facebook page. New York Red Bulls Radio will also broadcast the match in English, with Matt Harmon live from Vancouver. New York Red Bulls Radio kicks off with Countdown to Kickoff at 9:30 p.m. ET.
Following the match, New York will travel directly to Atlanta to open the 2017 MLS schedule against Atlanta United FC on Sunday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. ET (FS1, Fox Deportes, New York Red Bulls Radio).
The Red Bulls are next home on Saturday, March 11, when the Colorado Rapids visit Red Bull Arena at 4 p.m.
