The New York Red Bulls visit Atlanta United FC for the first time this season. The last meeting took place during the MLS is Back Tournament, and the Red Bulls won 1-0. Kickoff is at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Here are the Keys to the Game, presented by Honda:
Put Chances in the Back of the Net
In the 2-1 defeat against Inter Miami CF, the Red Bulls had four shots on target in the first half, but headed into halftime with a scoreless draw.
Although New York scored first, Miami came back and scored twice, the last one a free-kick goal by Gonzalo HiguaĂn.
The Red Bulls finished the match with 14 shots. Against Atlanta, New York will have another opportunity to put their chances in the back of the net.
Repeat Same Creative Performance from Wednesday Night
Players like Omir Fernandez, Florian Valot and Jared Stroud finished the game against Miami with several key passes. Valot finished with four, Fernandez with two and Stroud with three.
The creation of dangerous plays was seen throughout New York’s last match and will be needed in the visit to Atlanta.
So far in his MLS career, Valot has tallied a goal and an assist in the all-time series, including the game-winning goal back in July.
Atlanta Has One Loss in Last Four Matches
Atlanta’s last four results include two wins, a draw and a loss. Their two wins came against D.C. United and FC Dallas.
Their current top goalscorer is Jon Gallagher, who has three goals. Goalkeeper Brad Guzan has recorded five clean sheets this season.
