The New York Red Bulls head into their 11th consecutive playoff appearance as they visit third-seeded Columbus Crew this Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
Here are the Keys to the Game, presented by Honda:
Red Bulls Won Latest Playoff Matchup
In the 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs Conference Semifinals, RBNY defeated Columbus 3-1 on aggregate.
Danny Royer got a brace in the 3-0 second-leg win at Red Bull Arena on Nov. 11, 2018.
Derrick Etienne Jr., who’s now with the Crew SC, was part of the Red Bulls roster for that playoff series.
Brian White Has Scored in Four of the Last Five Games
Brian White finished the regular season as New York’s top goalscorer with five.
The Flemington, New Jersey native scored his last four goals against Chicago Fire, Orlando City, New York City FC and Toronto FC.
“Yeah, obviously it’s been a difficult year and to finally get a little bit of a flow going, scoring some goals, it’s perfect timing I think going into playoffs,” said White after the win over TFC. “You know, happy to build off the last couple games and score another one tonight, and hopefully continue against Columbus.”
Lucas Zelarayán Named MLS Newcomer of the Year
Last week, Lucas Zelarayán was named MLS Newcomer of the Year after completing a regular season with four goals and six assists in 12 starts.
Throughout the season, the Argentine midfielder made five appearances in the MLS Team of the Week.
Zelarayán scored in Columbus’ 2-0 win over RBNY during the MLS is Back Tournament in July.
