This Saturday the New York Red Bulls visit FC Montréal at Stade Saputo. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m ET.
Here are the Keys to the Game, presented by TriHonda Dealers:
In Need of a Spark
After the 2-1 defeat to Chicago Fire FC last Sunday, the Red Bulls will be back in action, this time in Montréal.
New York’s last win happened in early July at Exploria Stadium, and the team is looking hard for that spark that could get them back to winning ways. Center-back Tom Edwards described after the game in Chicago what the team needs as it works to get another win.
“We’ve had a talk as a team on our own. We feel like even though we have a young team, everyone keeps saying how young we are, I feel that we have a lot of experience in the team, even the young lads, they are great lads,” said Edwards. “They have a lot of experience themselves and I feel like it is just coming together as a team, what we are doing in the games, where we were getting results.
“We just need to go back to the basics and get them right and then we can start expanding from there, but as I just said, I feel like getting back to the basics and doing them properly will be the first stepping stone for us to get back to winning ways,” he concluded.
Four Straight Home Games After Canada Visit
After their visit to Montréal, the Red Bulls will have a four-game homestand, which will include games against Columbus, NYCFC and Chicago and DC United.
Although the Red Bulls didn’t win their last two home matches, they still hold a positive home record of 4-2-2.
The matches will be their first of the year against Columbus and NYCFC and second in the same month against the Fire.
Montréal Undefeated Since Return to Stade Saputo
Their meeting against New York will be their third game this season at Stade Saputo, where they have played two games this year.
They defeated FC Cincy 5-4 and drew 2-2 against Atlanta United FC.
Montréal’s current top goalscorer is New Jersey native, Mason Toye, with seven.
