Head Coach Jesse Marsch said that winning the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is "really important" for the New York Red Bulls.
"It's a chance to win a trophy," Marsch said. "One that I have won numerous times and I know that when you win it once, you value it more. Certainly, each time you take a step in the stage, you get a little closer to the taste of raising a trophy."
Marsch, as a player, won the U.S. Open Cup three times (1998, 2000 and 2003).

Defender Aurelien Collin said that he's glad to have this game - and to face Philadelphia Union again - in the tournament.
"The motivation is more or less the same, playing in the Cup against Philly, where we know what to expect having played them a couple weeks ago," Collin said.
The Red Bulls and Union have already met twice this season, splitting two MLS games, both in Philadelphia. The Union have bounced the Red Bulls from the Open Cup in each of the last two seasons.
"We think it is a great opportunity to play this game at home, to get to the quarterfinals, to get revenge on the last two years and to find a way to continue to push through the season, so we are really excited," Marsch said.
Whichever team they're playing, though, Collin only has one goal in mind.
"I want to win that Cup," Collin said.
