HARRISON, N.J. (Sept. 13, 2018) – Coming off a two-week break, the New York Red Bulls (17-7-4, 55 pts) travel to D.C. United (9-11-7, 34 pts) for the 2018 Atlantic Cup finale on Sunday at Audi Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and New York Red Bulls Radio in English on TuneIn.
New York Red Bulls Radio goes live at 12:30 p.m. ET with Honda Countdown to Kickoff, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley.
Sunday’s match will be the third and final regular-season game between New York and D.C. United. The Red Bulls have taken the previous two matches by a 1-0 score line with game winners from Bradley Wright-Phillips (2’) on July 25 and Kaku (56’) on August 26. Neither team has completed a series sweep since the rivalry became a three-game series in 2012. D.C. completed the only four-game series sweep during the 1999 season.
New York aims to have one of their best road records in franchise history with just three away matches remaining in 2018. The Red Bulls have tallied six wins away from Red Bull Arena for the eighth time in franchise history, just two wins from tying the club mark set in 2000. Nine of the Red Bulls 13 road games have been decided by one goal.
New York held strong in their second stretch of five games in 15 days with back-to-back road draws against Vancouver (2-2) and NYCFC (1-1) and then back-to-back home 1-0 victories over D.C. United and Houston before falling at Montreal, 3-0. The Red Bulls owned a 2-1-2 during the stretch after going 2-2-1 in the first run of five games in 15 days. For the second time this season, New York was successful being able to use their depth during the run as they used five different Starting XIs and 18 different starters.
New York returns to Red Bull Arena for back-to-back matches, beginning with Toronto FC on Saturday, Sept. 22. Coverage begins at 5 p.m. ET on MSG, MSG Go and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish on TuneIn.
