HARRISON, N.J. (July 23, 2018) – The New York Red Bulls (12-5-2, 38 pts) and D.C. United (3-8-5, 14 pts) faceoff for the 75th time in series history on Wednesday at Audi Field. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. with coverage on MSG, MSG GO and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish on TuneIn.
Coverage of Wednesday’s match on MSG begins at 7:30 p.m. with Honda Red Bulls Game Night. Steve Cangialosi will have the primary play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Shep Messing and Michelle Gingras.
New York Red Bulls Radio goes live at 7:30 p.m. ET with Honda Countdown to Kickoff, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley. Ernesto Motta will carry the Spanish play-by-play broadcast, beginning at 8 p.m.
Wednesday’s match renews the Atlantic Cup rivalry between New York and D.C. United. It will be the 17th time that these two teams will battle for the cup with D.C. taking it home 10 times, while the Red Bulls have won six times, including five of the last eight. The rivalry will be played in just the fourth different venue, having been played at Robert F. Kennedy Stadium, Giants Stadium and Red Bull Arena.
Luis Robles tallied his 55th career clean sheet on Saturday against the New England Revolution. Robles needed just one save to move within one shutout of cracking MLS’ top-ten all-time shutout list. The Fort Huachuca, Arizona, native has tallied six career clean sheets against D.C. United, which is the most he has tallied against one MLS team in his career.
Bradley Wright-Phillips has recorded a goal in back-to-back matches and four of the last six games following his tally against New England. Wright-Phillips is one shy of hitting 100 league goals and two goals shy of tallying at least 15 league goals in a season for the fifth consecutive year, which would be the first time in league history.
