Game Notes vs. San Jose Earthquakes

All-Time Series: San Jose leads, 17-12-9

At San Jose: Earthquakes lead, 13-2-3

HARRISON, N.J. (Oct. 3, 2018) – The New York Red Bulls (19-7-5, 62 pts) conclude their nonconference slate against the San Jose Earthquakes (4-19-8, 20 pts) on Saturday night at Avaya Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 10:30 p.m. ET with coverage on MSG, MSG GO and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish on TuneIn.

New York Red Bulls Radio goes live at 10 p.m. ET with Honda Countdown to Kickoff, hosted by Matt Harmon. Ernesto Motta will carry the Spanish play-by-play, beginning at 10:30 p.m.

Saturday’s matchup will be the 39th meeting between two of the 10 original MLS clubs. San Jose leads the all-time series 17-12-9 over New York. Last time these two teams played was July 19, 2017, New York was victorious 5-1 at Red Bull Arena. Red Bulls, however, have not won in San Jose since their first leg of the MLS Cup Playoff Series against the Earthquakes in 2010.

New York will look to continue to build on their franchise-record breaking season against San Jose. The Red Bulls already surpassed the club’s single-season record wins with 19 and total points at 62 following their win over Atlanta. New York currently is tied for the franchise single-season record in shutouts (13) and is one win shy of reaching 300 wins as a club. If the Red Bulls earned a win at San Jose, they would become just the second team in MLS to reach 300 wins, joining the LA Galaxy.

Coming off a yellow-card accumulation suspension, Bradley Wright-Phillips aims to write his name in the record books once again. Wright-Phillips is one goal and two assists shy of becoming just the third player in league history to reach the 20 goal-10 assist club. Alongside the 20-10 club, Wright-Phillips is just two assists shy of hitting the 10 goal-10 assist club, only four other players in franchise history have accomplished.

New York completes their two-match roadtrip at Philadelphia on Saturday, Oct. 21. Coverage begins at 3:00 p.m. ET on MSG, MSG GO and New York Red Bulls Radio in English on TuneIn.
