HARRISON, N.J. (July 22, 2022) –The New York Red Bulls (9-6-6, 33 pts.) will battle Orlando City FC in the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinals on Wednesday, July 27 at Exploria Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN+ and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 7 p.m. ET with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Honda, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley. Stefano Fusaro will carry the Spanish play-by-play responsibilities, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
This will be the second overall meeting between New York and Orlando this season, with the Red Bulls earning three points in a 3-0 win against Orlando at Exploria Stadium on April 24. Brazilian midfielder Luquinhas scored the game-winning goal in the match, which was his first career MLS goal. This will be the 17th all-time meeting between the two clubs, New York holds the advantage with a 9-5-2 mark, and this will be the first-ever Open Cup meeting between the squads.
The Red Bulls have qualified for the semifinals of the U.S. Open Cup for the sixth time in franchise history and for the first time since 2017. New York have had nine different goal scorers in the Open Cup this season, which is the most in franchise history. They have outscored their opponents, 11-2, in their first four matches of the tournament.
Midfielder Cristian Casseres, Jr. has made four career Open Cup appearances, including three this season. The Venezulan international has scored in three-straight matches against Orlando City SC, including two-straight matches. Casseres has scored two of his three career goals against Orlando at Exploria Stadium.
