HARRISON, N.J. (Nov. 27, 2018) – Down 3-0 on aggregate after Leg 1, the New York Red Bulls look to rebound against Atlanta United FC in Leg 2 of the Eastern Conference Championship, presented by Hackensack Meridian Health, on Thursday at Red Bull Arena. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage on FS1, FOX Sports Go and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish on TuneIn.
New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 6:45 p.m. ET with Honda Countdown to Kickoff, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley. Ernesto Motta will carry the Spanish play-by-play, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
For the second time in the 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs, New York finds themselves down after Leg 1. In the conference semifinals, the Red Bulls came back from an 0-1 deficit to Columbus with a 3-0 performance in Leg 2 at Red Bull Arena to advance. New York advanced after falling in the first leg of a two-legged series for the first time in franchise history. New York aims to become the first team in league history to come back from a three-goal deficit in the playoffs as four previous teams failed to advance after falling 3-0 in Leg 1.
New York has held serve at Red Bull Arena down the stretch as they have blanked their last six opponents. The Red Bulls have not allowed a goal to an opponent at RBA over the last 577 minutes, dating back to August 5. New York has recorded 14 of their 20 shutouts at home this season.
Since coming to MLS in 2017, Atlanta United has been blanked just 10 times in 76 matches. Of those 10 scoreless matches, the Five Stripes failed to tally a goal on the road in seven of those games. New York is just one of two teams in MLS to shut out Atlanta twice and the only team to not allow a goal at home.
Under Head Coach Chris Armas, New York is 9-1-0 at home this season and have outscored their opponents, 22-6. The Red Bulls have not lost back-to-back matches under Armas and have won their last seven at RBA by a combined score of 12-1.
If New York advances on aggregate, the Red Bulls will face the winner of the Portland Timbers/Sporting Kansas City for MLS Cup on December 8 at Red Bull Arena. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. ET with coverage on FOX, UniMas, TSN and TVAS.
