MATCH PREVIEW, pres. by Toyota: New York Finishes Road Trip with Battle Against Atlanta United FC on Saturday Night

The New York Red Bulls (11-7-14, 47 pts.) finish their two-match road trip with a battle against Atlanta United FC (8-14-10, 34 pts.) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, October 5. Tony Husband will have the primary play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Ross Smith on the English side, while Alejandro Figueredo will have the play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Eduardo Biscayart on the Spanish side. New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 7 p.m. ET with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Toyota, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley.

This will be the 16th overall regular season meeting between New York and Atlanta, with the Red Bulls holding the advantage in the overall series with a 9-1-5 mark. New York have posted a 4-1-2 mark in Atlanta and are coming off a 4-1 road win against Toronto FC. The Red Bulls are 2-1-2 in their last five MLS matches at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Midfielder Lewis Morgan, who recorded his 13th MLS goal of the season in New York’s last match, has posted seven career goal contributions in 10 career matches against Atlanta. Atlanta are coming off a 2-1 home loss to CF Montreal and are winless in their last five home matches across all competitions.

Red Bulls Captain Emil Forsberg made his first MLS start since June 1 against Orlando City FC in New York’s 4-1 win over Toronto FC. Forsberg recorded a goal and an assist in the match, and this was the second time he has done that this season. The Swedish international has now recorded 11 goal contributions in 17 matches played this season.

Following Saturday’s match, there will be a FIFA International break that runs from October 7 to October 15. Following the break, the Red Bulls will host Columbus Crew for their final regular season match of the 2024 season on Saturday, October 19 at Red Bull Arena.
