MATCH PREVIEW, pres. by Toyota: Red Bulls Travel to Citi Field for First New York Derby of the 2024 Season

The New York Red Bulls (6-2-5, 23 pts.) finish up a two-match road trip with a battle against rivals New York City FC (6-5-2, 20 pts.) for the first New York Derby of the 2024 season on Saturday, May 18. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English and Spanish and New York Red Bulls Radio in English via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.

Coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV begins at 7:30 p.m. ET. Jake Zivin will have the primary play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Taylor Twellman on the English side, while Bruno Vain will have the play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Andres Agulla on the Spanish side. New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 7 p.m. ET with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Toyota, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley.

This will be the 24th overall regular season meeting between the Red Bulls and NYCFC, with the Red Bulls holding the advantage with an 11-8-4 mark. This will be the first-ever New York Derby at Citi Field, with NYCFC posting a 6-3-2 mark when hosting the New York Derby. The Red Bulls have posted a 3-2-1 mark in their last six matches across all competitions against NYCFC, which includes a 2-0-1 mark during last season. New York are coming off a 4-1 win against D.C. United on Wednesday, where they scored four-plus goals in back-to-back matches since 2022.

Red Bulls midfielder Frankie Amaya recorded his fourth career multi-assist MLS match on Wednesday. The Santa Ana, California native has recorded three assists this season and 14 in his MLS career. Amaya has recorded one career assist against NYCFC. Goalkeeper Carlos Coronel recorded his 44th career MLS win with the Red Bulls, which ranks third in franchise history and is only five shy of passing Tony Meola for second place. Coronel has posted six shutouts in nine career appearances across all competitions against NYCFC and have won five of those matches.

Following Saturdayā€™s match, New York returns to Red Bull Arena for a two-match homestand, which begins on Wednesday, May 29 against Charlotte FC for Bark Night.
