HARRISON, N.J. (May 30, 2018) – For the second-straight year, the New York Red Bulls have been pitted against New York City FC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round on Wednesday, June 6 at Red Bull Arena. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage on NewYorkRedBulls.com and New York Red Bulls Radio in English on TuneIn.

New York Red Bulls Radio goes live at 6:30 p.m. ET with triHonda Countdown to Kickoff, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley.

The Red Bulls begin their quest for their second consecutive appearance in the U.S. Open Cup Final on Wednesday. Last season, New York went through NYCFC, the Philadelphia Union, New England Revolution and FC Cincinnati to reach the U.S. Open Cup Final for the first time since 2003. The Red Bulls are 21-18-3 all-time in the domestic tournament, having reached the finals twice in franchise history.

Ryan Meara started all five matches in net for the Red Bulls in the U.S. Open Cup, posting two shutouts and allowing just five goals. Bradley Wright-Phillips, who had not scored in U.S. Open Tournament prior to 2017, finished tied atop of the tournament’s leaderboard for goals with four. Wright-Phillips paced New York’s offense to the finals as he scored three of the team’s four goals, two of which were the game winners, in the quarterfinal and semifinal round.

New York City FC has struggled in the Open Cup since joining the league in 2015. NYCFC has been bested by their New York counterparts all three seasons in the fourth Round. In their first two attempts in the Open Cup, NYCFC fell to the New York Cosmos, first at home, 2-2 (3-4 penalty kicks) and then on the road, 1-0. Then in 2017, the Red Bulls delivered a 1-0 blow at Red Bull Arena, leaving NYCFC without a win in Open Cup through the first three years.

New York returns to league play with a road trip to Columbus this weekend before returning to Red Bull Arena against Seattle on June 13. The Red Bulls and Columbus Crew SC are set to faceoff on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, ESPN+ and New York Red Bulls Radio in English on TuneIn.
