HARRISON, N.J. (October 16, 2019) – Sixth-seeded New York Red Bulls will begin the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs on the road as they travel to face the third-seeded Philadelphia Union at Talen Energy Stadium in Round One on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET with coverage on FS1, FOX Sports Go, Fox Deportes and New York Red Bulls Radio on TuneIn.


New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 2:30 p.m. EST with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Honda, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley. Ernesto Motta will carry the Spanish play-by-play responsibilities, beginning at 3 p.m. EST.




New York and Philadelphia will meet for the 32nd time overall, 26 times in the regular season, five times in the U.S Open Cup and the first time the playoffs. The Red Bulls own a 15-9-7 all-time mark over the Union in their previous 31 meetings. The two teams split the regular-season series as both home teams earned a victory with New York earning a 2-0 win at Red Bull Arena and Philadelphia tallying a 3-2 come-from-behind victory at Talen Energy Stadium.


With extra preparation leading into Round One, five Red Bulls had a chance to record playing time on the international level. Kaku and Kemar Lawrence both produced for their senior teams on the offensive end as Kaku tallied the equalizer for Paraguay in a 1-1 draw with Slovakia in an international friendly, while Lawrence recorded an assist and helped anchor a clean sheet in Jamaica’s 2-0 win over Aruba in the Concacaf Nations League group stage match. Aaron Long started and played 90 minutes in the USMNT Concacaf Nations League match against Canada. Cristian Casseres Jr. scored U-23 Venezuela’s lone goal against U-23 Brazil in an international friendly, while Omir Fernandez came on in the second half for 45 minutes with the U-23 USMNT against U-23 El Salvador.


Brian White returned to the Starting XI for the first time since August 17 in the Red Bulls regular-season finale. New York is 10-4-4 in 2019 when White is featured in the starting lineup and just 3-5-1 when he is not on the 18-man roster. In his first full season, the Flemington, New Jersey, native has recorded nine goals and two assists in 19 games played.


If New York advances past Philadelphia, they will have the winner of Atlanta/New England. The Red Bulls will be on the road if Atlanta wins and will host New England if the Revolution win. The Eastern Conference Semifinal is set for October 24 at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
