Alex Muyl scored early in the second half to help the New York Red Bulls grind out a 1-1 away draw against Columbus Crew SC despite defending for most of the game Saturday.
Gyasi Zardes scored his 10th goal of the season early for Columbus, which outshot New York 18-11 overall and 15-2 in the first half.
But thanks to some wasteful finishing, five saves all before halftime by Luis Robles, and a pair of shots against the woodwork, the Red Bulls trailed by only a goal entering halftime.
Muyl headed Marc Rzatkowski's free kick beyond goalkeeper Jon Kempin early in the second half to cap the Red Bulls' best stretch of the day.
Columbus had more of the ball over the final half-hour, but couldn't create the same quality of chances as they did earlier.
