After losing 1-0 to D.C. United, the New York Red Bulls dropped points at home.
In the first 45 minutes, striker Tom Barlow had five shots, three of them on target. The Red Bulls, as a team, finished the first half with ten shots but were unable to find the back of the net.
Ryan Meara, who got his fourth consecutive start, made a key save in the 32nd minute to keep the score 0-0.
The Red Bulls continued searching for the first goal of the night, but in the 58th minute, D.C. United almost scored via Ola Kamara. Sean Nealis made a great defensive effort that allowed him to make a huge save as Kamara attempted to score.
In the 65th minute, Mathias Jørgensen, Ben Mines and Amro Tarek came onto the field to replace Barlow, Omir Fernandez and Aaron Long.
Sean Davis came off in the 71st minute with a knock, giving his place to Cristian CĂ¡sseres Jr. The last substitution for New York was Florian Valot coming on for Danny Royer.
New York continued creating chances with Jørgensen getting a few looks close to the final minutes of the match. Duncan kept being an option on the right flank every time the team made a run to the final third.
In stoppage time, D.C. United’s Erik Sorga netted the only goal of the night to give the visitors the win.
