Muhamed Keita wants to attack.
The newest New York Red Bulls player said he describes himself simply as an “attacker” and that he loves to play “attacking football.”
“I think that fits perfect here, in the way [Jesse Marsch] wants to play football,” Keita said at the New York Red Bulls training facility after signing his contract with the club.
Keita said he knows a lot about Marsch and the Red Bulls, as he played with Bob Bradley while they were both at Stabæk in Norway. Bradley and Marsch worked together with the United States Men’s National Teams.
“I knew what I was coming into,” Keita said.
The forward also said that he’s familiar with the style of soccer the Red Bulls play.
“When I heard about their way of playing, I knew that was somewhere I’d want to go,” he said. “The high pressing system, every good team plays like that now, in the world.”
Keita said that his goal is to help the team make the playoffs and win an MLS Cup.
As for the fans, he had a simple message for New York’s supporters.
“I just want to let them know that when they show up to a game, we will solve the rest,” he said.
