HARRISON, N.J. (March 16, 2016) – New York Red Bulls forward Anatole Abang has been called into camp for the Cameroonian National Team ahead of Africa Cup of Nations qualifying. The camp will be Abang’s first with the senior national team, which is set to face South Africa on March 26.
Abang joined New York ahead of the 2015 season by way of transfer from Cameroonian side Rainbow FC. The 19-year-old made 17 appearances in his first MLS season, including three starts. He racked up four goals and one assist, including three goals off the bench as a late-game sub. His lone assist was a game-winner as he set up Chris Duvall’s goal at Yankee Stadium in the 3-1 win over New York City FC on June 28.
He also scored a playoff goal in the second leg of the Eastern Conference Championship series against Columbus Crew SC.
