HARRISON, N.J. (January 5, 2024) – New York Red Bulls defender John Tolkin has been selected to the United States Men’s National Team roster for their upcoming January camp, U.S. Soccer announced today.

Tolkin, 21, will be entering his fifth season with the New York Red Bulls. Tolkin has made 86 career MLS appearances with 80 of them being starts. He has recorded five goals and 11 assists, which includes a career-high six assists last season. Tolkin registered 10 assists across all competitions last season and set new franchise records for the most assists in a single season by a homegrown and most assists in a single season by a defender. He is currently tied for the most assists by a defender across all competitions in franchise history with 15.

The Chatham, N.J. native receives his third senior national team call-up, with his most recent call-up being for the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Tolkin has made three career caps for the USMNT with two starts. This will be his fifth international selection this calendar year after participating in two U.S. Olympic camps in October and November, where he made three appearances.

Tolkin and the USMNT will participate in camp from January 8 to January 16 in Orlando, FL, and then the team will play against Slovenia on January 20 at Toyota Field in San Antonio, TX. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET with coverage on TNT, Telemundo, Universo, Max, and Peacock.
