New York Red Bulls defender Omar Valencia has been called up to the Panama National Team for their upcoming CONCACAF Nations League Semifinal.
Valencia, 20, is in his first season with New York, where he has made three appearances and logged 205 minutes played. The defender made his first career MLS start against FC Cincinnati on February 22, and he recorded his first career MLS assist in New York’s 2-0 win over Nashville SC on March 1. Valencia played the previous two seasons with New York Red Bulls II, where he made 37 MLS NEXT Pro appearances and tallied four assists.
The Panama City, Panama native has made three career appearances for the Panama National Team. Valencia made one appearance at the 2024 Copa America and became the first active MLS NEXT Pro player to appear in a Copa America. He made his debut for Panama on June 11, 2022, in a friendly against Uruguay.
Valencia and Panama will take on the United States in the 2025 CONCACAF Nations League semifinal on Thursday, March 20 at SoFi Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET with coverage on Paramount+.
