New York Red Bulls Select Brian White in First Round

White, not only a four-year Blue Devil standout, was a member of the Red Bulls PDL squad


PHILADELPHIA (January 19, 2018) – With the 16th overall pick of the 2018 MLS Superdraft, the New York Red Bulls selected Duke product Brian White on Friday at the Philadelphia Convention Center. White and current New York Red Bulls midfielder Sean Davis were teammates during the 2014 season at Duke.



White is the third player out of Duke that New York has selected in franchise history, previously picking Brian Kelly (15th overall, 1997) and Blake Camp (41st overall, 2006).

A four-year standout at Duke, White played in all but one match (73 of 74) and started in 63 of 74 as a Blue Devil. The Flemington, New Jersey, native was a top-five point getter at Duke and led his team in scoring his senior season with 10 goals. White accrued 57 points on 23 goals and 11 assists.


White is also a familiar face with New York as he competed for the Premier Development League side this past summer, scoring 17 goals along with three assists. The 5-foot-11 forward was named the PDL’s MVP for his incredible performances over the course of the season.
