HARRISON, N.J. (March 8, 2019) – New York Red Bulls II will open up their fifth season in the USL Championship, when they host Swope Park Rangers at MSU Soccer Park on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET and can be seen live on ESPN+.
NYRB II look to continue on the success that saw the club qualify for the playoffs and appear in the Eastern Conference Championship for a third straight season. NYRB II finished fifth in the Eastern Conference with an overall record of 13-13-8 (52pts.). The club fell to Louisville City SC in the Eastern Conference Final.
The last time these two clubs met was three years ago in the 2016 USL Cup Final. NYRB II won the match by a score of 5-1, with goals scored by former NYRB II winger Derek Etienne, Jr. and former midfielder Vincent Bezecourt, both currently play for the New York Red Bulls. This will only be the second ever meeting between the two clubs.
Swope Park Rangers finished seventh in the Western Conference with a record of 15-8-11 (53 pts.). The club suffered an early exit from the USL Cup Playoffs in the Western Conference Semifinals falling to Phoenix Rising SC.
NYRB II will be back home when they face Nashville SC on Sunday, March 24, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET.
