Thoughts on the match…

Well, the result is incredibly disappointing. I just told the team to make sure we weren't hard on Aaron Long and the defense because the game was lost by our inability to take advantage of chances that we created and really good chances. We haven't been on the road and created these kind of chances in a long time. Not sure why were not able to finish off our plays and not score as many goals as we need to. We've got to figure out a way now to get more leads, capitalize on more chances and that's going to take pressure off our defense. First half I thought was pretty good and up until 1-0 was really good in the second half. We were pushing the game really well, we were on top of things, Luis had to make one save with Sapong on a a header but other than that the game was totally under control. It's crazy to walk to out of here 3-0 but we've got to stay strong, we've got to know we've still got a lot of good things happening here and we've got to push harder now when we get home for three straight.

Thoughts after going down 1-0….

It was definitely still there. Aaron Long had a header in the box and that could have made it 1-1. Even at 2-0 the game was still there. We were creating chances often enough to still feel like even with five, six, seven minutes we could score two goals. I've got to be strong with the group now, we've got to keep our mentality strong, and can't feel sorry for ourselves. Obviously, huge disappointment on this road swing. We can't seem to solve the puzzle for the road and not only can we not seem to solve the puzzle, we seem to give up goals in bunches. We've got to do better. We've got to do better than that and I'll look hard at things and I'll make sure that we find ways to improve.

On having Michael Amir Murillo back…

Very good to have Mike back. He even helped with putting the play together for Brad and that's what you see with Mike. He can be part of the solution for sure if we can get him really fit. He's clever around the goal and he's got that kind of savviness. Having him back can be really important but it's not going to take any one guy. It's going to take a group effort now, making sure we have confidence around the goal, that we take our chances the right way, that we're aggressive, that we finds ways to just finish off more plays.

On Daniel Royer coming out…

He's fine. He got scrapped in the shin in the first half but he's fine. All the guys came out physically fine.

On how he manages his team following three games in eight days…

The key for me right now is now it's not physical, it's mental. The whole week here was a lot about physical and some mental and now it's all mental. I haven't changed my opinion on our team and who we are and we just have to find a way to reward ourselves more for some good moments. Like I said before, it's too bad because if could have found a way to finish a chance, get a lead and get a win here then we would have this thing still feel like it's rolling. We got to make sure that guys don't mentally feel like were back to try to come up with answers.

On returning home and Tyler Adams…

It's important. It's always been good to us, Red Bull Arena. We can't just rely on it. We've got make sure that we get better. I'll also say, it's incredible to watch Tyler Adams grow and mature. We're going to miss him he goes with the U-20s, that's for sure. We wish him well and hope he has a great tournament but he's done really well for us. There's no question about that. Now we'll need Sean Davis to step up in a big way and I know he will.

Thoughts on outcome of game…

I thought the first half was kind of a wash, it was not great from us. I think we left a little bit frustrated, but I think we came around in the second half with a good mentality, played up the field more, played on their end and had more of the game. Unfortunately it was straight to the back that leads to a goal, and even after that we were still on top of the game. We had a good chance to score, they make some big saves, and then they go down the other way and make it 2-0. Overall, some pretty good performances on the field tonight, but we leave here obviously very, very disappointed.

Thoughts on the second half…

Yeah, Jesse was just on us about winning more second balls, playing on their end more, and just having the physical side of the game be ‘upped’ a little bit more. I thought that doing that helped us, we won a lot more second balls, we were able to settle the game down, play a minute, and try to pause out some chances, and unfortunately we couldn't fit one in.

On creating chances…

Yeah, I think in the second half, we've just have to think back and that's the mentality we have to have for 90 minutes. I think if we shelled out in the first 45 [minutes], maybe we could have put them under more pressure and gotten an early goal, and then things changed. I think the other messages were just, within the game, plays in both boxes tonight, they made a few more plays than us, we didn't get a goal, I think the defense did a good job of holding up for a long enough time and we weren't able to put a goal in, so I think that's on us a bit, but you know, going back home now, three games in a row now, we've gotta be positive.

On getting ready for LA…

We have a couple of days off now, which will be nice, some guys played the full 90 minutes three times, so that was tough on some guys. These couple of days off are going to be nice, mostly for them. I feel pretty good, I wish we had training tomorrow just to get back into it and get ready for the Galaxy, but a couple days off will be nice, physically we'll be all right.

Thoughts on the match…

I know it’s the first third of the season so you don’t want to look too much into these things, but it’s going to be very important for us to figure out how to get points on the road. When it comes towards the end of the season and we’re looking at the table, I think it’s games like these that we’re going to look back and maybe kick ourselves for not getting points. Credit to Philadelphia, they definitely had the better of us in the second half. When you look at the first goal, I know it’s a very difficult ball for [Aaron Long] to judge, and even then, he did a great job of recovery. CJ [Sapong] just got a little lucky and scored it under him. It deflected up and it went over me. Aaron has been one of our best players this year and for him to do what he’s done over the first 13 games of the season, I don’t think he’s missed a minute, he’s just thrown into the fire. To see him develop the way that he has, he has a bright future and he really is the bedrock of our defense, so you know it was a tough goal for him and a tough situation, but nonetheless we have the utmost confidence in Aaron. We know that three games in eight days is going to be difficult we definitely ask a lot from him but he’s an incredible defender and we know that he’s going to bounce back next game.

On the game after CJ Sapong’s first goal…

That’s the frustrating thing about the situation when they scored the first goal. I felt at 0-0 in the second half we were doing quite well. We had the run of play, we were creating some chances and even when we were 1-0 we had, I felt, one or two good chances. I think [Aaron Long] had the header, [Bradley Wright-Phillips] had the sort of redirect that [Andre Blake] did a really good job on. If we could’ve found a way to get a goal I think that would’ve dramatically changed the complexion of the remaining of the game. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to do that. That’s something that’s one of the big challenges right now is that as a team we have to find ways to not only create opportunities but finish them and I think that’s going to be one of our best ways to defend while we’re on the road.

On the mindset going into next Sunday’s game…

The next two days, we’re off, so we’re going to recover knowing that on Sunday we have a big game against LA Galaxy and we know this is another opportunity for us to not only show ourselves against the Western Conference, but to bounce back. We’ve been quite good at home, and not to put any added pressure on ourselves, but we have to continue that form.

On if it’s a good time to come home for a three-match homestand…

Obviously, we take it one game at a time, LA being the next one, so once the week starts we’ll back at the game. We’ll try to figure out how we can improve and we can continue to minimize mistakes we made and develop into the best team possible, but then we’ll start working at Galaxy and formulate a game plan knowing that we have what it takes to not only put in a good performance but get points.
