Luis Robles was back in training with the New York Red Bulls on Monday and he said “it’s great to be back with the guys.”
Robles was in January Camp with the U.S. Men’s National Team and started in their friendly against Jamaica.
“It was excellent,” Robles said of the duty for his country. “It’s always great to be involved in something like that. Not only to be in a situation to be able to gauge yourself against not only the top keepers in the league, but also some of the top players.”
Despite not training with the Red Bulls to start the preseason, Robles knows the goal.
“We have a big game coming up,” Robles said of New York’s upcoming tilt with Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League on February 22 and March 2.
“Part of our challenge is that a lot of the starters from last year haven’t been involved,” the goalkeeper said. “The real challenge for us is to get guys on the field that are ready to play in two and half weeks, not only because it’s a challenge, but it’s an important game for us.”
