Club Deportivo Guadalajara (often referred to as Guadalajara or their nickname "Chivas") is arguably Mexico’s most successful and popular soccer club.
After winning 13 titles as an amateur club, C.D. Guadalajara made their debut as a professional club in 1943. They went on to win a total of seven titles in the following nine years. Success has continued and most recently Chivas finished an impressive 2017 season with silverware, winning two domestic competitions in the Primera Division and in the Copa Mexico tournament. Chivas also have successful experience in the Concacaf tournament, lifting the trophy in 1962.
Chivas qualified for the 2018 Champions League edition after becoming the Liga MX 2017 Clausura champions, winning their 12th league title on an 4-3 aggregate score over Tigres UANL.
As of March 31, Chivas is 12th (out of 18 clubs) in Liga MX, with 15 points through 13 matches played (3-6-4), with a -3 goal differential.
Despite that, Chivas have had a great Concacaf campaign so far, knocking-out MLS side Seattle Sounders in the Quarterfinals and boasting an impressing +9 goal differential.
Chivas recently visited Red Bull Arena, as the Liga MX side took on Atletico Nacional de Medellin to meet in "SuperCopa de Campeones" on September 3, 2017.
