Get to know who the Red Bulls will be playing in their upcoming matchup with The Other Side:
How They’re Doing
FC Cincinnati clinched the Supporters’ Shield on September 30 with a 3-2 win at Toronto FC.
In total, they have 20 MLS wins on the season and only five losses. 13 of those wins, and only two of those losses, have come at TQL Stadium.
One of those losses, though, came against New York on October 4.
While Cincinnati haven’t had the same form in their last eight matches, only managing three wins, it was an extremely impressive 2023 season for the orange and blue.
Head-to-Head History
New York owns a slight advantage in their head-to-head history with Cincinnati with a record of 6-5-3.
In their last meeting, goals from Frankie Amaya and Elias Manoel saw the Red Bulls kick their playoff push into high gear with a 2-1 win at TQL Stadium.
The home team has not won a matchup between these two teams in the last nine meetings.
Cincinnati and New York have met in the playoffs before, where the road team brought the Red Bulls’ season to an end last year with a 2-1 victory from behind.
Player to Watch- Midfielder Luciano Acosta
The Red Bulls will have to contain the MLS MVP favorite on Sunday night.
Luciano Acosta has followed up a breakout season in 2022 with a magnificent season in 2023. He has been a catalyst for the Cincinnati attack, which has proven to be one of the best in the league, with 17 goals and 14 assists in MLS play so far this season.
A threat no matter where he is on the pitch, Acosta will definitely be one to watch on Sunday.
