Sean Davis has come up through the New York Red Bulls Academy, signed as a Homegrown player and now has inked a contract extension that will keep him with the club for years to come.
The Holmdel, New Jersey native originally signed with the club on December 11, 2014 as a Homegrown Player. Before he inked his first deal, Davis helped the Red Bulls' U-23 team win the NPSL Championship in 2014.
Starting with the 2015 season, Davis appeared in 14 matches for New York, starting four times. He notched his first professional point, a game-winner, against Real Salt Lake on June 24, 2015. One month later, he made waves, scoring twice against Premier League side Chelsea FC as part of the International Champions Cup at Red Bull Arena on July 22.
On June 22, 2016, Davis started and scored his first assist of the year for New York -- also against Real Salt Lake. He later scored his first MLS goal at the LA Galaxy on August 7. He tallied his first multi-point game with two assists and a goal one week later, against the Montreal Impact. He also started all six matches outside of MLS (four in Champions League group play and two in U.S. Open Cup games).
In 2017, Davis hit season-bests in games played (27), games started (21) and assists (4). He scored his first goal of the year on July 29 against San Jose Earthquakes at Red Bull Arena. He had another multi-point match against Orlando City SC, with a goal and assist, on August 12. He saw time in both Champions League matches, as well as taking part, and starting three times, in the club's run to the Open Cup Final.
Davis got his first MLS postseason action, as well, notching an assist against the Chicago Fire in the Knockout Round and playing in both legs against Toronto FC.
In 2018, Davis has already added two assists to his resume in MLS play, as well as scoring a goal in Concacaf Champions League play.
Davis, at just 25, will continue to be a mainstay for the Red Bulls for the foreseeable future.
