HARRISON, N.J. (March 18, 2025) - New York Red Bulls U-13 Academy team participated in the 2025 KHS Cup in Malta on March 15 and 16.
The group had a very strong showing in group stage play on Day 1, going 4-0 defeating Taurunium FC, Zurrieq FC, Kercem Ajax FC and Hamrun FC.
New York moved onto a Champions Group on Day 2 against Juventus FC, Torino FC, Parma Calcio 1913 and Blackburn Rovers.
In the first Champions Group match, New York faced Juventus FC. Jacob Valeriano scored the lone goal of the match when he struck a shot from inside the box into the bottom left corner to give the U-13’s a 1-0 victory.
Next, New York faced Torino FC and again earned a 1-0 win thanks to a great set piece that was crossed by Yuto Damonte onto the six-yard box and volleyed home by Tyler Edwards.
The group moved onto play Parma Calcio 1913 and lost 2-0. In the last Champions Group match, they faced Blackburn Rovers where they lost 2-1. However, with Jacob Valeriano’s goal, Red Bulls moved to second place in the tournament table for the Champions Group.
Overall, they went 6-2 across eight matches and placed second out of 25 teams.
